Elevators, in Castiel's opinion, were wholly pointless but still vaguely interesting apparatuses. Useful for humans who can't transport themselves between floors with a thought, he supposes, and once he's inside, it's something of a new experience that he's happy for. He stands beside Dean, watches him push a button, and takes a step back when the doors slide shut.

This hotel, it's haunted. On the floor they are headed to, he supposes they will find remains to burn but mostly he's just here to keep an eye on Dean. It isn't a hard thing to do, be with Dean and not mind it. He enjoys a ghost hunt, it's much less stressful than a fullon angel war. He can relax now.

Until the elevator comes to a halt and the lights go out. When the doors don't open, Castiel begins to realize this may not be right.

"Is it supposed to stop between floors?"

Dean, on the other hand, was being far less Van Damme about this situation, something about being raised to go incredibly wary whenever electric things just start doing whatever they feel like doing, but there's no smoke or condensation or whatever other weird crap air likes to do when there's baddies in the area.

Still, his eyes shift around like a caged animal just for that split second, before he approaches the doors. "No, it is definitely goddamn not," he mutters, and starts punching into some buttons, a bit uselessly. He's not really sure what he wants here, for some asshole spirit to be mucking up the place, or for just some God's honest electrical error. Actually, the ghost thing's less frustrating. His fingers curl around on the pistol grip of his sawed-off regardless, practiced.

If this wasn't necessary, he'd be more pissed. They knew a McAuley was haunting this joint, after all, they just didn't know WHICH McAuley was. "Waddya think, spirits startin' to promote healthy hearts for the good of all?"

"I think if that were the case they would have shut the elevator down before we got on. This seems more like they wanted us to be trapped." He just says it bluntly, like he is wont to do, but he doesn't think this has much to do with the ghosts, really. "I will try to see what's going on. Stay here."

That might have been a joke. He's looking forward now, focusing on transporting himself out of the metal box.

Nothing is happening.

"That's - " Not at all the point of the joke, he swears, one day, he needs to sit the dude down and-- explain humor, he shouldn't have to be explaining humor to someone. "That's a good call, Cas."

His eyes roll at the latter response, as his free hand runs along the buttons and then the door, his back turned to Castiel as if he might find an out here in the doorway somewhere. "I ain't goin' very far right now, you don't have t'worry about that one."

Or there wouldn't be worrying if, you know, that looming shadow had gone anywhere. But he doesn't. Go anywhere. And after a pause of silence, Dean looks back at him, hand still planted on the door. "What's the face? You're not poopin', are you?

And entirely serious "No" is what Dean gets back, along with a rather curious look. Is that a thing humans have to deal with? Spontaneous bowel movements? "To the best of my knowledge Jimmy is not incontinent." He hasn't had any issues with his vessel, anyway.

"I can't leave the elevator." Which is really the more important topic, here. "We're both stuck until the electricity comes back on."

He isn't sensing any kind of real danger, it really just looks like an entirely human and not at all supernatural issue. He points to the emergency phone, motions for Dean to take care of the whole calling for help thing. He and technology still don't exactly mix well.
